R.C.I.A.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process for adults
who are interested in becoming members of the Catholic Church. It is based
upon the model of the early Christian Church in which potential members
passed through several stages of learning to full membership at Easter. The
first stage, Inquiry, is a no-strings-attached opportunity to find out more
about the church. Should the inquirer decide to pursue the process, he or she
would enter the Catechumenate, a time of deepening commitment and conversion.
Sponsors and a team of parishioners guide and encourage the participants at
the meetings. Adult Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, and Reconciliation are
handled through this same process.
RCIA follows the directives of the Diocese of Oakland. See http://www.oakdiocese.org/

**Inquiry classes are on-going. Call Lyn Ford at 362-1905 to sign up or learn more.

Catechist Training
Each year volunteers share their faith in many programs, including
children's classes, bible study and peer ministries.
Catechist Training is an opportunity to develop a mature knowledge of our
faith as adults and to learn methods of passing it on to children and others.
Through the program we strengthen our identity as Catholics, learn a better
understanding of the beliefs which identify us as Church and motivate our way
of life as followers of Jesus Christ.
Participants will receive a Diocesan certificate upon completion.
This program is not currently available at St. Isidore, but catechist certification is available through the Diocese of Oakland. |
Christian Family Movement
Christian Family Movement (CFM) is a national Catholic network of parish
families that promotes Christian values through social and community
activities. Through both small group discussions and family activities,
members help each other reinforce Christian values in our own families and
reach out to share this in the community.
Families join a group of five to seven other families. The adults in each
group meet once a month at a member's home to discuss various topics related
to our Catholic faith. We also plan a monthly family activity such as
a potluck dinner, a visit to a local nursing home, an Epiphany
Party, bowling, a Seder Supper, or a soup kitchen visit.
