Adult Faith Formation - RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process for adults who are interested in becoming members of the Catholic Church. It is based upon the model of the early Christian Church in which potential members passed through several stages of learning to full membership at Easter.

Are you…

  • interested in learning more about the Catholic Church?
  • unbaptized and looking for more spirituality in your life?
  • baptized, but have never received any formal religious education?
  • married to a Catholic and  you would like to share in your spouse’s faith?
  • seeking something in your life, but are not sure what it
The first stage, Inquiry, is a no-strings-attached opportunity to find out more about the church. Should the inquirer decide to pursue the process, he or she would enter the Catechumenate, a time of deepening commitment and conversion. Sponsors and a team of parishioners guide and encourage the participants at the meetings. Adult Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, and Reconciliation are handled through this same process.

RCIA follows the directives of the Diocese of Oakland.
